Face the Music

Let's face it, Covid is not gone.
I went to an open house at a thrift store.
I'm pretty sure I got Covid there.
(My second time! UGH.)
Or maybe I caught it when I went to see M.J. the Musical in Chicago.
What a great production!!!

Please be sure and get the video This is It about M.J.'s cancelled tour.
I do not think I got Covid at Lollapalooza.
Wowee did I have FUN!
My father was worried about my safety.
So I brought a whistle I was given from my daughter.
I was very safe.
There were security and police everywhere.
I was able to walk down Michigan Ave. at 10:30 pm.
I heard awesome tunes
and made lots of new friends
from all over the world.
LOCK HIM UP.
It rained two of the days.
Wow did my feet get wet.
Watching people slip and slide in the mud
made me think,
"See you in the ADA section with me soon!"
Bean Bag Chair!
The advertisers' areas were unique,
fun, and full of freebies!
Mohawk!
Billie is the reason I bought a pass.
WHAT AN AMAZING ARTIST.
I won playing the T-Mobile claw game!
The 1975 was outstanding.
Just like last time I was able to score a bucket hat
before they were sold out!
The lineup was amazing.
On Saturday night I missed some performances in order to
attend a one man show titled, "Guac."
Powerful. It's about a school shooting.
It's written and performed by the father of a victim.
Heartbreaking.

Back at the festival on Sunday I had
some more delicious foods!
Being photo bombed by a smiley cop was enjoyable!
I returned to some of the activities over and over.
Lollapalooza didn't open up until 11 so I popped
over to the Art Institute one morning.
New Jeans (the band) was quite popular this year.
My daughter and her boyfriend are music lovers.
They made a schedule for me.
Unfortunately many of the artists played at the same time
or at opposites ends of Grant Park.
I definitely got my steps in!
I had shirt envy.
I was given some great LPs for my birthday.
A ten record set.
I'm getting through them.
Fantastic!

Trips to the Chicago Botanic Garden
are super for nature bathing.
We went to a yearly carnival.
One I've been going to since I was a kid.
Some b-word bullied me about my outfit.
I'm praying for that b-word.
Be careful what you buy.
I purchased this charger from a known dealer.
It fried my phone.
Susan Branch always reminds us to look
for small beauty everywhere.
AAAAAACHOOOO!
I love this big dog, Levy.
He is one hairy dude.
Beach church.
I had time for a puzzle this month.
Get it?
I invited an 8 year-old neighbor to come play
Kiddles with me.  So fun!!!
Summer time is hammock time.
I was fortunate to have Covid while dog sitting
a sweet puppy which made isolating much easier.
Still, I hated wearing a mask.
And my cough and fever were so bad!
I was fascinated by this leaf that was suspended
(by a spider web).
During my isolation I wanted OUT!!!
I got to hear Kenny Loggins at Ravinia!!!
Happily my symptoms went away on the 5th day.
We were scheduled to host two international ladies
so I masked up and picked them at O'Hare.
We took them over to the Chicago Botanic Gardens.
Happily the next day I had a negative test!
So we headed to the city - unmasked!
The girls went to the Shed and I went to a museum.
Harriet the Spy!!!
Saw some Phamily!
We went to hear O.A.R. and The Goo Goo Dolls.
I gave my international daughters the full tour.
It was very HOT but we got tixs
to Ravinia so we went!
We went back into the city to see more sites.
Bhoomi!
We went to my fav store Vintage Rescue.
Bought these.
We needed to babysit our granddaughter.
We had our favorite pizza.
(Besides Silo.)
I knew Barry Manilow was in Columbus.
But I couldn't be a Fanilow this time.
But friends bought me this swag!

We celebrated our 38th
wedding anniversary.
This happened that day!!!
Gift from my hubby.
We went out for Italian food.
Yum.
This is the gift I really want:
This month's media recommendations.
We went to our favorite farmers' market.
It's in Ohio.
We also went to a family reunion.
I still can't believe I snapped this photo from inside the car.
My husband said he might paint it.
Hope so.
Needed to pick something up at a dog sitting job.
Left it there in December.
Went to the fried chicken joint nearby.
Yes, that's a glazed donut.
It was good!
(Pickles on it too!)
THIS VOTE WAS TOO CLOSE.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Got these Bean earrings in Little Poland.
Stickers from my daughter.
More fun for the neighbors
to look at on my
car bumper!
My international daughters have me eating more fruit now.
I took my daughter thrifting on
Senior's Day.
She liked the extra 20% off!
TWOFER!
Gave one to my daughter.
Today is the last day I can use my
Temporary Handicapped pass.
It's been very useful.
I am glad to NOT have to use one.
I got my hair(s) cut.
This cute t-shirt was a gift.
Thanks J!
I took another walk at the CBG.
Saw the train display.
I was blessed to be able to buy a one of a kind
pastel watercolor painting by Lucia.
I got to hear Brandi Carlile at Ravinia!

It's hard for me to see summer slip away.
I just love warm weather and outdoor concerts.
I hope you have had a magical month.
Now that I've had Covid (again...) I'm glad
I'll have antibodies because I am
traveling a lot in the coming months!
Peace be with you!
Jen Pen
