Chasing Entertainment

I may be over analyzing this,
but I seem to like being
where the action is humming.
Learning Mah Jong is for sure entertaining.
(Someone has to lose, why not me?)
Technically some of these are photos from last month,
but hey, whose blog is this anyway?
As I shared last month I got my hair dyed
on January 30, 2026.
When I sent these photos to my 90 year old mother
she said, "I'm glad you warned me ahead of time."
It has been amazing to discover how many clothes
I have that look great with this hairdo!
"Now your hair matches your purple coat," said many people.
Hours after getting my hair dyed I performed in a stand up show
for the class I had been attending.

The gag at the end was I pulled off my hat and
announced how happy I was to finally let my hair down.
It got a great reaction.
The premise of my nine minute set
was that I am an attention seeker
and having my daughter's year and a half long
engagement shift the spotlight from me to her
had been difficult for my ego.
A few days later my husband and I were able
to see a classic comedian entertain an audience
for an hour and a half of solid jokes.
Amazing.

I attended some theatre productions.

I went to the Art Institute with friends.
I tolerated the Super Bowl via a parfait toast.
I listened to some audiobooks, rock n roll, and NPR.

I actually read a 671 paged book.
Bought some LPs. Listened to some tunes.

I did two dog sitting jobs which paid for the OREGON trip
I now have booked for July with Reset friends I met in Ojai.
I mostly had a peace filled month.
Mind you, this month did have it's road block moments.
Many potholes and the effects of them.
But my high mileage Elantra still took me to interesting places.
I remained my corny self while traveling in Iowa.
I was in Des Moines and went to the M-i-s-s-i-s-s-i-p-p-i riverside
to meet with my cuz for some tasty burgers and sites.
Here's the travelogue pics to prove I entertained myself with
sites, sounds, tasty treats, and good companionship.
Keep on truckin'!
I kept thinking about the owners of these vehicles.
This museum has gone through multiple additions
and has another one planned!

The skywalk system is amazing
in Des Moines.

I see art in patterns, regardless of the setting.
Honestly, I am entertained by the art
seen within this visual.
Did some boutique, vintage, & antique shopping.

Bought a vintage book.
I love murals and artistic embellishments on buildings.

Found some postcards by a favorite artist.
Saw the incredible Lauridsen Skatepark.
Visited the Des Moines Art Center.
Double take.
You scream, I scream,
we all scream for
a good art scene.
This exhibit had opened the day I visited.
Saw this beautiful fox necklace in the art center shop.
Bought this card.

Le Claire, Iowa
Home to the American Pickers store
Antique Archeology.
See that tricycle? I have one!
Added this living room set to my Kiddles collection.
Small shops in town where we mostly browsed.
Bought some locally roasted coffee.
Loved the handmade gourds but I bought myself a singing bowl.
My cuz took this pic.
It was so good to hang out together.
It was a delight to watch ice flows glide by.
That day I saw THREE eagles too.
Speaking of our country's national bird,
let me say
CONGRATS
to the women and men's Olympic hockey teams
for their gold medal winning performances!
I hope your February has been
full of moments
that will be cemented
into your memory
as being golden.
And that when there is darkness
you’ll shine your own
unique light.
Peace be with you,
Pen
Owl be right here
helping you bear the
ups and downs
as we journey together.
